Map at Foot of Page
As mentioned previously, please do NOT use the postcode on your Satnav for any location in the Highlands as postcode areas here are so large you will probably miss your destination by many miles! Also Satnavs can advise routes which we know to be unsuitable in certain weather conditions and times of the year, e.g. the Struie Road.
The co-ordinates (as best as I can work them out) for the B&B are:
If your SatNav does not recognise the house because it is on a private track, you could try co-ordinates for the road where you turn off onto the track, which I think are:
Immediately opposite the railway station there is a long straight flat road heading west. There are fields on the left, and buildings on the right.
Carry on along this road, past the buildings. You will now see fields on both sides of the road.
Keep going for another 100 meters approximately and you will see a track for vehicles and pedestrians on the right. You will see a white bungalow and a yellow house as far as you can see along the track. (N.B. The turning is just BEFORE the road crosses a stream, bends to the left and starts to climb uphill gently.)
Turn right into this track. PLEASE USE LOW GEAR ESPECIALLY WHERE THE TRACK STARTS TO GO UPHILL, AND DRIVE SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY. THIS IS NOT A METALLED SURFACE, AND WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN QUICKLY CREATE POTHOLES AND BUMPS.
ALSO LOCALS HAVE CATS OR DOGS WHICH THEY WALK OFF THE LEAD ON THIS AND ADJOINING TRACKS.
After a straight flat section, the track bends slightly to the right then bends slightly to the left. Ignore the turning on the left at the bend. Just keep going until you reach the end of the track at the top of a short hill.
You will see a gate infront of you. Please do not block access to the gate for walkers, cyclists, etc., as this is the entrance to Carbisdale Woods.
The house is on your left, and the entrance is immediately visible at the side.
Culrain Railway station is on the right (just over halfway down the map) at the junction with the Inveroykel-Culrain road. Please note that when you click for directions our property is sometimes labelled Inveroykel Culrain instead of Balvaig Cottage . Please ignore the incorrect wording and do not go to Inveroykel!
PLEASE NOTE, WE ARE NOT TAKING ANY NEW BOOKINGS DUE TO A PENDING MOVE. HOWEVER YOU CAN STILL VIEW THE PAGES FOR USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT THE AREA. APOLOGIES.
If you enjoyed your stay at Balvaig, we would be grateful if you would recommend us via Facebook or any other social media that you use, or via email.
Please click on any of the relevant icons below. Many thanks.
